Erdogan: Assad's regime turned Syria into drug production farm

Bashar Assad's regime has turned Syria into a "drug production farm," which threatened stability in Türkiye, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said at an event in Denizli, according to Report.

He said Ankara is pleased with the overthrow of Assad's regime in Syria, as it put an end to the dictatorship and crimes against the Syrian people.

The politician also emphasized that Türkiye is one of the countries most affected by the consequences of the Syrian crisis.

"Against the background of instability in Syria, terrorist organizations PKK and ISIS strengthened their positions near Turkish borders. Under the pretext of fighting ISIS, some forces transferred thousands of trucks with weapons and ammunition to PKK terrorists. Moreover, Assad turned Syria into a huge drug production farm," said the Turkish leader.
