Erdogan: Agreement reached on main grain routes within UN plan

“Currently, our role is to host. We are mediating as a host. We have been working on the export of Ukrainian grain through the Black Sea for a long time. I have discussed this issue several times with Mr. Putin and Mr. Zelenskyy. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of National Defense held meetings with their colleagues. As a result, at the technical meeting held in Istanbul last week, an agreement was reached regarding the main routes within the framework of the UN plan,” Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said told reporters after returning from his trip to Iran, Report informs.

“This week, we want to see this memorandum in writing. We hope that the plan will be implemented soon. The process will be carried out from the coordination center that will be created in Istanbul. In addition to our country, Russian, Ukrainian and UN officials will participate here. Having gained the trust of all relevant parties, Turkiye will implement the necessary coordination for the proper execution of the process with an inter-agency approach. We continue our intense efforts to end this sensitive process, which is critical to global food security,” Erdogan noted.
