Erdogan accuses EU of not taking Ukraine's appeals seriously

"Ukraine does not show a firm position, especially on NATO membership. In fact, I do not think that Ukraine will be very insistent on the issue of the European Union. Except for some, the EU member states did not take it seriously," Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in an interview with reporters on his way back from Uzbekistan, Report informs.

"Despite all this, I have heard and learned of Mr. Putin's positive attitude towards Ukraine's accession to the European Union. Of course, we will study the final situation during these meetings. Hearing this during my meeting with him will allow us to better assess the steps to be taken in this direction. Do you know what the European Union has done to us since 1963? Constantly distracted, and is still distracting us. We can be one of the guarantors of Ukraine's security; we see it as a principle, but, of course, the details need to be clarified," he said.
