Energoatom: Zaporizhzhia nuke plant operates with risk of violating radiation safety standards

Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant operates with the risk of violation of radiation and fire safety standards, Report informs referring to UNIAN.

Energoatom noted that the only operating now is the 6th power unit, which supplies electricity to the energy system of Ukraine and provides for its own needs of the Zaporizhzhia plant.

The nuclear power plant, as well as the satellite town of the nuclear power plant - Enerhodar, has been controlled by the Russian Armed Forces since March 4.

Head of the city administration Oleksandr Volga told Interfax that the radiation background is normal. At the moment, one of the two working power units of the Zaporizhzhia plant has been stopped due to the repair of high-voltage power lines.

He noted that the second block will be restarted after the repair of the power line is completed.

The main part of the IAEA mission left the nuclear power plant.
