ECO summit to be held in Tashkent in November

The next summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) will be held in Tashkent in November 2023, Report informs via Sputnik-Uzbekistan.

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and ECO Secretary General Khusrav Noziri discussed issues of bilateral cooperation.

"Comprehensive preparations are underway for the organization's next summit in November this year in the city of Tashkent. The importance of careful preparation of the agenda for the upcoming event was especially emphasized," said the press service of the Uzbek president.

Noziri assured that the organization's secretariat is ready for close joint work with Uzbekistan to build up multifaceted cooperation within the ECO framework, the press service added.

Uzbekistan chaired the ECO in 2022. A regular meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the organization's member countries took place in Tashkent on Tuesday. As a result, the Tashkent communiqué was adopted, which provides for the development of cooperation in energy, transport, combating natural disasters and strengthening food security. The chairmanship of the ECO in 2023 passed to Azerbaijan.

The ECO is a regional interstate economic organization established in 1985. It includes Iran, Pakistan, Turkiye, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
