Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan may meet with his Syrian counterpart Bashar al-Assad in Moscow, Russia, at the beginning of August, with Russian President Vladimir Putin to mediate the discussions.
Baghdad, Iraq, and the Türkiye-Syria border are listed as other possible venues for the meeting between the two leaders.
Putin met with Assad on July 24, which was followed by the meeting between Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. Erdogan instructed Fidan to finalize the details for normalizing relations with Syria.
