Defense Ministry: 1st phase of Russia's war in Ukraine ended with Kyiv's victory

"Ukraine was able to gain an advantage in the first phase of the war with the Russian Federation. The invaders failed to fulfill their tasks and suffered heavy losses," Deputy Defense Minister of Ukraine Anna Malyar said, Report informs via RBC-Ukraine.

"In the first phase, the Armed Forces of Ukraine dealt the enemy an absolute blow and it ended with the victory of Ukraine since the Russian troops failed to achieve their key goals," Anna Malyar emphasized.

She said that in the first phase, Russian troops used the tactics of dominance both in terms of the number of personnel and the number of weapons.

"They primarily relied on the elite and professionalism of their units. It was these professional detachments and ordinary military personnel that were concentrated around Kyiv city and the Kyiv region.

Such tactics of dominance led to huge losses in the enemy. They failed to achieve their goal of besieging Kyiv and had to abandon their plans. As a result, the first phase was completed because the military command of the enemy decided to withdraw troops from the capital of Ukraine and the northern regions and concentrate on the eastern and southern regions," she added.

On April 18, the Office of the President announced the start of the second phase of the war with the Russian Federation. It covers the eastern and southern regions of Ukraine.
