The chairmanship in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) after Kazakhstan passes to the Chinese side. The next summit of the association will be held next year in China, reads the Astana Declaration, signed in the Kazakh capital, Report informs referring to TASS.
“The chairmanship of the SCO for the coming period passes to the People's Republic of China. The next meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the SCO member states will be held in 2025 in the People's Republic of China,” reads the document published on the Kremlin website.
At the summit in Astana a new secretary general was elected within the principle of rotation.
In 2025-2027, the post will be held by the representative of Kazakhstan, Nurlan Yermekbayev. He will replace Zhang Ming, who has held the position since 2022.
