Chief of Armenia’s General Staff to be summoned for interrogation

Armenia’s National Security Service will summon Chief of the General Staff Artak Davtyan for interrogation on the criminal case against former Defense Minister David Tonoyan and his close friend David Galstyan, Report informs referring to the Armenian newspaper Zhoghovurd.

He may also be charged on a criminal case initiated by the National Security Service.

David Galstyan has been under arrest since February 2 and was released on May 17. He was accused of supplying the Defense Ministry with Czech-made artillery shells of 1977 of a different type instead of artillery shells of 1983-86, which were significantly inferior in tactical characteristics. The goods were delivered under the signature of Chief of the General Staff Artak Davtyan. David Tonoyan’s lawyer Sergei Hovhannisyan noted that David Tonoyan doesn’t accept the charges and doesn’t testify.
