CEC: Georgia's ruling party defeats Saakashvili's supporters in local elections

The ruling Georgian Dream Party is the leading according to the preliminary results of the local elections in Georgia. So far, the Central Election Commission (CEC) has calculated 99.92% of the votes, Report informs.

According to the CEC, the Georgian Dream received 46.65% of the vote on the proportional list, while the opposition United National Movement Party, unofficially led by former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili, received 30.7% of the vote.

The local elections were held in Georgia yesterday. According to the CEC, 1,815,776 people participated in the voting, which is 51.92% of voters.
