The leaders of BRICS countries have expressed support for a comprehensive reform of the UN and the Security Council, and backed the aspirations of countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America to play a more significant role in the organization, according to the declaration adopted at the BRICS summit in Kazan, Report informs via Russian media.
"We reaffirm our support for a comprehensive reform of the UN, including its Security Council, with the aim of enhancing its democracy, representativeness, effectiveness, and efficiency, as well as increasing the representation of developing countries in all categories of membership in the Council. (...) We support the legitimate aspirations of developing countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America, including BRICS states, to play a more significant role in international affairs, particularly in the UN, including its Security Council," the document states.
