Belarus defense minister arrives in Iran

Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin left for an official visit to Iran, the press service of the country's Ministry of Defense, Report informs via Sputnik-Belarus.

"The Minister of Defense of the Republic of Belarus, Lieutenant-General Viktor Khrenin, arrived in the Islamic Republic of Iran on an official visit," the defense ministry said in a statement.

As part of the visit, the minister is expected to hold negotiations with the Iranian military top brass, during which the parties will discuss topical issues of military cooperation between the two countries.

The Belarusian minister and his Iranian counterpart, Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Ashtiani met in April this year as part of the meeting of the defense ministers of the SCO countries.

The ministers noted that in the current conditions of turbulence, the maintenance and strengthening of peace and security will be facilitated by the consolidation of joint efforts, deepening cooperation and mutual support.
