The Central Election Commission has received the documents needed to register the incumbent President of the Republic of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko as a candidate for the presidency of the Republic of Belarus, Report informs via BelTA.
A person nominated as a candidate for the presidency of the Republic of Belarus is supposed to submit the documents needed to register him or her as a presidential candidate on December 7-21.
The following documents are needed: a written statement of consent to run for the office; biographical information in accordance with the form specified by the CEC; certificates or copies of the documents confirming information about education, the place of work and the position held by the potential candidate; declarations of his or her income and property as well as income and property of their spouse and adult close relatives, who live together and maintain a common household.
The documents can be submitted by potential candidates or their representatives with the power of attorney. Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus (FTUB) Yuri Senko used a letter of attorney to submit all the necessary documents to the CEC. “Today by the power of attorney I submitted documents for the registration of Aleksandr Grigoryevich Lukashenko as a presidential candidate to the Central Election Commission,” Yuri Senko said.
In his words, the signatures needed to nominate the presidential candidate were collected in an absolutely calm manner. “Via pickets in streets, visits to enterprises, work in the locations selected by municipal authorities for signature collection. People showed great interest and strong enthusiasm when they met with members of the initiative group and left their signatures. I believe that all the consequent stages will also proceed in a calm and normal manner. The population wants it. We felt it during signature collection,” Yuri Senko added.
The registration of candidates for the presidency of the Republic of Belarus will take place on December 22-31, 2024 (it starts 35 days before the election and ends 25 days before the election).
Pre-election campaigning will take place on January 1-25, 2025.
The Belarus president election is scheduled for January 26, 2025.
