Azerbaijani delegation attends CIS Economic Council meeting

The 90th meeting of the CIS Economic Council took place in Moscow on the territory of the Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy (VDNKh) in the Space pavilion, the Russian Bureau of Report informs.

The heads of the CIS delegations discussed several issues covering various spheres of economic cooperation of the CIS member states.

The Azerbaijani delegation in Moscow was represented by First Deputy Prime Minister Yagub Eyyubov and Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Russia Polad Bulbuloglu.

During the meeting of the CIS Economic Council, the CIS Interstate Statistical Committee presented a report on the main target macroeconomic indicators of economic development of the CIS member states for 2020. Regular analysis of these data makes it possible to assess the dynamics of the socio-economic development of the CIS countries, the degree of their integration, as well as to promptly adjust the economic policy in the interests of sustainable development and countering crisis phenomena.

Also, the members of the CIS Economic Council were informed about the results of the implementation of the Plan of Priority Measures for the Implementation of the Concept of Cooperation of the CIS Member States in the Energy Sector and the Plan of Priority Activities for the Implementation of the Concept of Cooperation of the CIS Member States in the Use of Renewable Energy Sources.

The key issue on the agenda was creating exhibition and shopping centers of the CIS member states on the territory of VDNKh.

Presently, the pavilions of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus operate on the territory of VDNKh, and the pavilion of Moldova has been opened in test mode. The pavilions of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan are expected to start operating this year. It is planned that these exhibition and shopping centers will take an active part in holding events dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the CIS, which is celebrated this year.
