Azerbaijan takes part in first Caspian Economic Forum

Azerbaijan is taking part in the first Caspian Economic Forum held in Turkmenbashi today.

Report informs citing RIA Novosti that the Azerbaijani delegation is led by country's Prime Minister Novruz Mammadov.

Notably, during the forum Russian Prime Minister Dmitriy Medvedev said that "Russia will soon ratify the convention on the legal status of the Caspian Sea".

A year ago, the leaders of five Caspian littoral states signed a convention on the legal status of the Caspian Sea, a historic document for the region that has been developed for more than twenty years, since 1995. The convention was undersigned by the presidents of Russia, Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan. The document secures the exceptional and complete rights of the five countries to the Caspian Sea, the responsible development and use of its depths and other resources.
