Attack on Azerbaijani family in Georgia

Last week, the Mardaliyevs family came under attack in Akhaltsikhe region of Georgia compactly populated by Armenians, local Bureau of Report says.

A group of people damaged a car belonging to Azerbaijani citizens of Turkish descent at night and used insulting expressions on national grounds.

The Azerbaijani embassy in Georgia has considered the issue. The first secretaries of the embassy Seymur Ismayil, Imran Mustafayev, and Ramel Latifov, were Akhaltsikhe and visited the family. The meeting discussed concerns of the family, and Azerbaijani citizens expressed gratitude for the attention.

One person has already been detained on a criminal case initiated regarding the attack on an Azerbaijani family.
On July 18, Azerbaijani and Armenian students of Samtskhe Javakheti State University quarreled. After the incident, 18 Azerbaijani citizens were evacuated to Tbilisi.

The reason for both incidents was clashes between Azerbaijan and Armenia in the direction of the Tovuz region.
