Armenian PM reveals future interior minister

Armneia's Ministry of Internal Affairs will be headed by Arpine Sargsyan, who currently serves as deputy minister.

She will replace Vahe Ghazaryan, who recently resigned, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan wrote on social media, Report informs referring to Armenian media.

"Dear compatriots, Arpine Sargsyan, who holds the position of Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, will be appointed as Minister of Internal Affairs," he wrote.

Sargsyan was appointed deputy minister of internal affairs in January 2022.

Prior to this, Sargsyan held the position of Head of the Department of Criminal Legislation, Development of Penitentiary and Probation Policy at the Ministry of Justice.

Sargsyan is known for her connections with the pro-Western wing, as well as close contacts with the US Embassy in Armenia.
