Armenia seeks Indian expertise to upgrade Su-30 fighter jets

Armenia is in talks with India's Hindustan Aeronautics Limited aircraft manufacturing corporation regarding the modernization of the Su-30 fighters in its arsenal, said Hovhannes Vardanyan, the head of the Aviation Department of the Armenian Armed Forces, Report informs.

Vardanyan noted that he has already discussed possible areas of cooperation with General Anil Chauhan, the Chief of Defence Staff of India.

An unnamed Indian official confirmed to the Hindustan Times that Armenia is interested in the modernization of the Su-30 by the corporation:

"The talks on this issue are at an initial stage. The variant of Su-30 in Armenia's arsenal is different from the Su-30MKI in the Indian Air Force."

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited produces Su-30MKI multi-purpose fighter aircraft in India under Russian license.
