At a meeting on December 29, the Armenian government adopted a draft amendment to the Criminal Code, according to which actions to renounce the sovereignty of the republic are criminalized, Report informs referring to Interfax.
At a government meeting, Minister of Justice Grigor Minasyan said that actions to renounce sovereignty are punishable by imprisonment for a period of 10 to 15 years. For calls for the renunciation of sovereignty, punishment is provided from fines to imprisonment for up to three years.
“If the appeals are carried out through the media, punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of two to five years is provided,” Minasyan noted.
The document has been sent to the parliament for approval.
