Armenia Constitutional Court refuses to consider claims of parliamentary opposition

The Constitutional Court of Armenia is doing everything not to consider appeals from the parliamentary opposition. Repor informs, citing the Hraparak newspaper.

The appeals are about the constitutionality of those articles of the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly, according to which the opposition is essentially deprived of the right to nominate candidates for the posts of heads of parliamentary commissions.

“Though the opposition has the right to head standing commissions, it is the parliamentary majority that decides which of the opposition should hold a particular post and which should not,” notes the paper.

For more than a year now, the opposition has submitted a claim to the Constitutional Court, but on December 12 it was once again not considered, explaining that there is a need for additional study.

The next meeting of the Constitutional Court is scheduled for December 19.
