Ambassadors of Azerbaijan, Turkey commemorate those who died for Georgia's independence

Azerbaijani Ambassador to Georgia Faiq Guliyev, together with his Turkish colleague Fatma Ceren Yazgan honored the memory of the victims of the April 9 tragedy.

Report's Georgian bureau reports that the ambassadors visited the monument in honor of the victims of the tragedy, erected in front of the parliament building.

They laid wreaths at the memorial and honored the memory of those who fell for Georgia's independence.

Today marks 32 years since the events of April 9, 1989. On that day, part of the military forces of the Soviet Union cracked down on peaceful rally participants who demanded independence outside of the Georgian parliament building in Tbilisi. As a result, 21 people died, including 18 women, thousands of people were poisoned with a gas of unknown origin.
