Afghanistan’s Taliban gov’t seeks economic opportunities at St. Petersburg Forum

A delegation from Afghanistan's Taliban government has landed in St. Petersburg, Russia, to participate in the prestigious St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2024), according to the Afghan Embassy, Report informs referring to Russian media.

The forum, scheduled for June 5-8, is expected to attract global leaders, businessmen, and experts to discuss economic challenges and opportunities.

Earlier it was reported that Russia sent an invitation to the Taliban movement to take part in the SPIEF.

The Taliban took Kabul in mid-August 2021. The US military left Kabul airport at the end of August, ending a 20-year US military presence in Afghanistan. In early September, a provisional government of Afghanistan was formed under the leadership of Mohammad Hassan Akhund.
