2 people killed in carbon monoxide poisoning at gold mine in Kyrgyzstan

An interdepartmental commission has been set up to study the causes of carbon monoxide poisoning at the Ishtamberdi field, according to the press service of the Kyrgyz Cabinet of Ministers, Report informs referring to the Kyrgyz media.

Due to a gas leak at a mine in the Chatkal district of the Jalal-Abad region, two people died, four more were hospitalized, six were sent for outpatient treatment.

Deputy Prime Minister Bakyt Torobaev instructed the State Service for Environmental and Technical Safety under the Ministry of Ecology to prepare an analysis of the causes of carbon monoxide poisoning at the Full Gold Mining mine.

“To investigate the causes of the incident, an interdepartmental commission has been created, which will have to carefully understand what happened,” the report says.

The press service of the Cabinet of Ministers added that Full Gold Mining will provide the necessary assistance to the families of the dead and injured.
