Azerbaijan to host World Environment Day 2026 in June

Azerbaijan will host World Environment Day 2026 in June, giving further impetus to the global sustainable development agenda, Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov said at the RES2026 Regional Ecological Summit in Astana, Report informs.

"Building on the successful experience of hosting COP29, Azerbaijan is preparing to host the 13th World Urban Forum, which will be held in cooperation with UN-Habitat in May of this year. Furthermore, Azerbaijan will host World Environment Day 2026 in June," the prime minister noted.

Asadov emphasized that Baku intends to use these platforms to consolidate international efforts in urban planning and the environment, as well as advance the global sustainable development agenda.

The prime minister emphasized the importance of further strengthening joint efforts and ensuring a coordinated approach to addressing transboundary environmental issues.

"Azerbaijan remains committed to the principles of international cooperation and is ready to actively contribute to achieving common goals," he added.
