Zelenskyy sharply criticizes ICRC

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) must gain access to the Olenivka prison, where Ukrainian prisoners died as a result of the terror attack, as this is part of the ICRC commitments, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said, Report informs referring to RBC-Ukraine.

Ukraine is ready to assist the mission in every possible way, he noted.

“I believe that the ICRC is not a club with privileges, where they receive salaries and enjoy life. The ICRC has commitments - primarily of a moral nature. The mandate of the ICRC must be fulfilled,” he said.

Zelenskyy stressed that the ICRC mission must gain access to the Olenivka prison, Donetsk region, in which about 50 Ukrainian prisoners of war were killed.

“Ukraine is ready to contribute to this. Following the model of the IAEA mission, the ICRC mission can also be launched, but this requires leadership, perseverance, and understanding of who created such an institution as the ICRC and why,” Zelenskyy added.
