WHO names reasons for increase in coronavirus cases

The high prevalence of COVID-19 is currently associated with a more infectious mutation of the BA.5 subvariant of the omicron strain, Report informs, citing the European Regional Office of the World Health Organization (WHO).

This can be explained by summer tourism and the removal of previously imposed restrictions.

At the same time, the WHO/Europe reminded the importance of virus protection and vaccination, including a booster dose.
