WHO experts to arrive in China to study origin of COVID-19

A delegation of experts from the World Health Organization (WHO) will arrive in China on January 14 to investigate the causes of the novel coronavirus, Report states, citing TASS.

According to the statement of the State Committee for Hygiene and Health of the People's Republic of China, during the visit, foreign experts "will conduct an investigation together with Chinese scientists."

Earlier on January 5, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus expressed disappointment that the Chinese authorities had delayed granting permission to arrive at an international scientific group of experts. As Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying later explained, this delay was due to "the specifics of official procedures in the context of a pandemic."
