Death toll in New Orleans terrorist attack rises to 15

The number of victims in the terrorist attack in New Orleans (Louisiana) has increased to 15 people, with at least 30 people injured, Report informs, citing CBS News.

According to the information, the autopsy procedures will take several days. Once they are completed and relatives are notified, the identities of the deceased will be made public.

FBI had previously identified the perpetrator of the terrorist attack.

Ten people were killed early Wednesday when a truck plowed into a crowd on Bourbon Street in New Orleans' French Quarter, according to city officials, Report informs via CBS News.

The popular tourist district was full of New Year's Day revelers at the time.

Witnesses told CBS News reporter Kati Weis that a white truck crashed into people on Bourbon Street at high speed, and then the driver got out and started firing a weapon, with police returning fire.

The City of New Orleans said in a statement posted online that 30 people were transported to area hospitals with injuries and 10 people were confirmed dead.

Weis saw multiple people on the ground being treated for injuries near the intersection of Bourbon and Canal Streets.
