After the elections held on July 4 in Rome, the capital of Italy, Uzbekistan was unanimously elected for the first time as a member of the United Nations (UN) Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Council for 2028-2029, Report informs, citing the Uzbek Foreign Ministry.
It was stated that membership in the Council will allow Uzbekistan to participate in the development of global food policy, promote national initiatives and projects, and attract additional resources.
The Council consists of 49 member states elected for a term of three years. It reviews the budget, FAO programs and provides key decisions and recommendations.
