US to buy 150,000 tons of Ukrainian grain

The United States will buy about 150,000 tons of grain from Ukraine in the next few weeks, the Executive Director of the UN World Food Program David Beasley said, Report informs.

According to him, the planned shipment is six times more than the amount delivered by the first delivery they organized from Ukraine to people in the Horn of Africa region.

He noted that discussions are ongoing, and where the grain will be delivered has not yet been determined. However, according to him, it will likely be sent to Africa, as the effects of the drought have caused the most severe food shortages this year.

According to the World Food Program, 22 million people are at risk of starvation.
