US to allocate $2 million to Kyrgystan for obsolete ammunition disposal

The United States intends to allocate $2 million to Kyrgyzstan, which will be used to dispose of the country's obsolete ammunition, the US Embassy in Bishkek said on Thursday, Report informs, citing TASS.

The United States will allocate $2 million for the disposal of obsolete ammunition and explosives in Kyrgyzstan, the embassy said in a statement, Report informs, citing TASS.

According to the diplomatic mission, the funds are planned to be provided in 2023.

The project will be implemented jointly with the Border Service of the Kyrgyz State Committee for National Security, the OSCE, and the ITF (a non-profit humanitarian organization).

Obsolete ammunition threatens Kyrgyz citizens and military personnel, the US embassy said.

The volume of ammunition planned to be disposed of has not been reported.
