US suspends funding to WHO

President Trump said the US would halt funding to the World Health Organization. Moreover, his administration investigates what he called the group’s mismanagement of the coronavirus response, Report says, citing RIA Novosti.

“Today I’m instructing my administration to halt funding of the World Health Organization while a review is conducted to assess the World Health Organization’s role in severely mismanaging and covering up the spread of the coronavirus,” Trump said at a White House press conference.

Trump said the WHO did not provide information on time and truth to the attention of the world community.

However, leading health experts have labeled Donald Trump’s decision to cut funding to the World Health Organization (WHO) as a “crime against humanity” and a “damnable” act that will cost lives.

The move also drew a rebuke from the head of the United Nations, who said the WHO was “absolutely critical to the world’s efforts to win the war against COVID-19”.
