US strategic Bitcoin reserve valued at $15–20 billion, Treasury Secretary says

The United States’ strategic reserve of bitcoin is currently valued at between $15 billion and $20 billion at prevailing market prices, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told Fox News on Thursday, according to Report.

“I believe the bitcoin reserve, at current prices, is somewhere in the range of $15–20 billion,” Bessent said.

He clarified that Washington is not actively purchasing bitcoin for its reserve; instead, the holdings were accumulated from digital assets confiscated by the government.
