The US diplomatic mission in Russia from May 12 is reducing the volume of consular services and stopping processing applications for the issuance of nonimmigrant visas, with the exception of diplomatic trips, Report informs referring to RIA Novosti.
The US embassy explained the suspension of consular services by restrictive measures on the work of the US diplomatic mission, which were introduced by Russia at the end of April as a response to the next anti-Russian sanctions.
In addition, the American embassy warned that it would no longer provide consular services to their citizens, except in emergency cases that relate to urgent issues - in the foreseeable future, Americans in Russia will not be provided with notary services, issue birth certificates for children, and their expiring passports won’t be renewed.
Such services can only be provided in extraordinary circumstances, but with significant delays. All Americans with an expiring visa were advised by the embassy to leave Russia by June 15.
