US State Department counselor unexpectedly cancels visit to Kosovo

US State Department counselor Derek Chollet canceled his visit to Kosovo, which was supposed to take place on December 12, Report informs referring to Kosovo online.

The visit was allegedly canceled for family reasons.

Chollet and US Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs Gabriel Escobar were scheduled to meet with Prime Minister of the unrecognized Kosovo Albin Kurti this afternoon.

The Kosovo government announced that Kurti would only meet with Escobar in the afternoon.

Earlier, the former special envoy of US President Donald Trump at the talks on Kosovo, Richard Grenell, said that the US should stop supporting the Kosovo authorities, which sow terror.

He also called on EU authorities to change the course of their Kosovo-Serbian strategy. According to Grenell, the EU is only exacerbating the Balkan crisis.
