All senators are expected to vote this week. If approved, 58-year-old Blinken will be sworn in.
Blinken announced at a Senate hearing last week that he would revive international alliances. According to Blinken, the Biden administration will do everything possible to stop constructing the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline and intends to try to convince EU partners of this.
Blinken argued that the US should assist Ukraine because of its relationship with Russia and the fight against corruption, and strengthening government agencies. He believes the US should keep NATO’s doors open to countries like Georgia.
