The United States and Lithuania have signed an agreement on cooperation in the extraction of critical minerals.
According to Report, citing the US State Department, the Memorandum of Understanding on a Critical Minerals Framework Agreement was signed by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys.
Rubio said Lithuania and the United States intended within six months to jointly identify priority projects from a common list and mobilize public and private sector financing for them.
He noted that cooperation between the United States and Lithuania, a global leader in photonics, was highly important for the economies and defense of both countries.
Budrys said establishing a strategic partnership with the United States, a leading global power, to create resilient and reliable supply chains was one of the Lithuanian government's foreign policy priorities.
He added that major projects would be implemented under the agreement to strengthen the security and prosperity of both countries.
