US and South Korea conduct joint special forces drills near Seoul

South Korea and the United States conducted a joint special forces training exercise at a specialized training center located 32 km from Seoul.

Report informs via Yonhap that the drills, which took place from August 24 to 29, 2024, were part of the larger Ulchi Freedom Shield joint exercises that concluded on Thursday.

The training exercise brought together elite troops from the Special Operations Command of the South Korean Army, the Air Force Combat Operations Group, and the US 2nd Army Aviation Brigade. Helicopters, including UH-60 and CH-47 models, were deployed to transport the military personnel during the drills.

Participants engaged in various tactical scenarios, including capturing and holding territory, storming objectives, and eliminating enemy forces. The exercises aimed to enhance the special forces' capabilities in conducting reconnaissance missions and improve overall combat readiness.
