US ambassador mocks Macron’s statement on Palestine

US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee mocked French President Emmanuel Macron’s statement that Paris intends to recognize the State of Palestine in September.

"How clever! If Macron can just ‘declare’ the existence of a state perhaps the UK can ‘declare’ France a British colony!" the diplomat said in a post on X, according to Report.

In a follow-up post, he adds: "Macron’s unilateral 'declaration' of a 'Palestinian' state didn't say WHERE it would be. I can now exclusively disclose that France will offer the French Riviera & the new nation will be called 'Franc-en-Stine.'"

Earlier, President Emmanuel Macron announced his intention to officially recognize the independence of the State of Palestine in September at the UN General Assembly.
