UN warns: Gaza's water purification reserves dwindling fast

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in the Palestinian territories has raised a dire warning: Gaza's reserves of sodium hypochlorite, a crucial chemical used for purifying drinking water, are expected to last only one more month.

According to Report, which cites TASS, the looming shortage of water purification chemicals poses a severe threat to public health in Gaza.

OCHA also notes that this alarming situation is further complicated by the need to double the concentration of sodium hypochlorite from 6% to 12% due to increased water storage times and rising temperatures.
