UN: Taliban responsible for reporters in Afghanistan

Spokesman for the UN Secretary-General Stephane Dujarric said at a press conference that his colleagues in Kabul maintain contacts with reporters from different countries working in Afghanistan and receive all the necessary humanitarian support, Report informs.

Reporters provide an invaluable and essential service in any society, especially in Afghanistan, where the Taliban are responsible for ensuring that women journalists do their jobs without fear, he said.

A few days ago, a Taliban spokesman said that there are no obstacles for journalists to work in the region. According to the International Federation of Journalists, hundreds of media representatives working in the world’s leading media have applied for accreditation in Afghanistan.
