UN Security Council adopts resolution on combating misinformation and discrimination

The UN Security Council has adopted Resolution 2686 on the theme of tolerance and the maintenance of international peace and security, Report informs.

The document was adopted unanimously - by all 15 countries of this main institute of the world organization.

The text emphasizes the commitment of the UN member states to live in peace with each other, confirms the need for international cooperation in solving economic, social, cultural and humanitarian problems. In addition, an appeal is made to the UN Security Council to continue efforts to prevent armed conflicts in all regions.

Representatives of member states expressed their deep concern about the facts of violence provoked by hate speech, disinformation, including through social networks.

The UN Security Council calls on all international and regional organizations to publicly condemn violence, hate speech, extremism caused by discrimination based on race, ethnicity, gender, religion and language.
