Ukrainian political scientist: Armenia actively helping Russia to circumvent Western sanctions

Armenia is actively helping Russia to circumvent the sanctions imposed by the West after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, head of the Center for Analysis and Strategies, political scientist Ihor Chalenko said while answering the questions of the Verkhovna Rada TV journalists, Report informs.

He noted that not only goods, but also equipment for the military industry of the Russian Federation are being delivered from Europe and East Asia.

“Yerevan, which intends to reorient itself towards the West, is in fact an accomplice of the Kremlin regime,” he added.

The political scientist noted that while in 2021 the trade turnover between Yerevan and Moscow amounted to $840 million, in 2022 it was already $2.4 billion: “In fact, the trade turnover has tripled.”

According to Chalenko, in Armenia itself, an inexplicable demand for technological goods is growing in terms of population.

“Mobile phones alone were imported 10 times more last year than a year before,” the political scientist said.

In conclusion, Chalenko added that many US companies refuse to supply chips to Armenia, as they understand that they will subsequently end up in Russia.
