Turkiye and the UN should continue negotiations with Russia to keep the grain agreement in place, Yuriy Kamelchuk, MP of the ruling Servant of the People party of Ukraine, told Report.
According to him, Turkiye has already noted certain progress and that perhaps there will be no problems:
He said that Ukraine has not signed any documents directly with Russia.
"Both Russia and Ukraine have signed a document with the UN and Turkiye, which are the guarantors of this agreement. Therefore, in order to avoid a food crisis in the world, the UN, Turkiye, and the United States should put pressure on Russia," Kamelchuk said.
The MP stressed that the reason why Russia announced that it would withdraw from the grain agreement and allow Ukraine to export grain to the whole world is apparent:
"They are the main rivals of Ukraine in this matter, and they have already managed to steal enough grain from the Kherson region and send it to countries like Syria and Iran. With this, they try to fill the budget in any way. Because oil and gas restrictions and the reluctance of normal democratic countries to cooperate with Russia create problems for Russia. But some countries are still working with Russia."
