The only realistic proposal regarding possible negotiations with Moscow must be an immediate cessation of Russia's war against Ukraine, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Oleg Nikolenko said on Facebook, commenting on the recent statements of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on possible peace talks, Report informs.
Nikolenko stressed that while Russia continues to "commit crimes in Ukraine, there must be only one answer – the battlefield."
"The only realistic proposal must be the immediate termination of Russia's war against Ukraine and the withdrawal of Russian troops from the Ukrainian territory beyond the borders as of 1991," Nikolenko noted.
Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov said that the Russian side was still ready for negotiations to settle the situation in Ukraine.
