UK adds 20 tankers, two companies to Russia's sanctions list

The UK has expanded its sanctions list for Russia, adding 20 vessels and two companies, Report informs via TASS.

An updated version of the document was published on the UK government's website.

The sanctions target Dubai-based companies 2Rivers DMCC (formerly Coral Energy) and 2Rivers PTE, which specialize in energy trading. Restrictions have also been imposed on 20 oil tankers registered in various countries.

The British authorities justified adding these companies to the sanctions list by saying that they are allegedly involved in benefiting from supporting the Russian government, namely the Russian energy sector.

Regarding the vessels, it is stated that the basis for introducing restrictions was their alleged involvement in activities that lead to the destabilization of Ukraine, the undermining of its territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence, as well as profiting from supporting the Russian authorities.

According to the document, the vessels subject to sanctions are used to transport oil or oil products from Russia to third countries.
