Two French scientists confess to attack on Russian consulate in Marseille

Two French citizens working at the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) have admitted to attacking the Russian consulate in Marseille, prosecutors said on Wednesday.

Report informs via French media that one of the suspects is an engineer, and the other is a chemist. On Monday, February 24, they threw three plastic bottles containing a mixture of chemicals into the consulate’s garden. No one was injured, and no damage was recorded.

The Russian side described the incident as a terrorist act, while the French government condemned any breach of diplomatic security.

The suspects were identified during a pro-Ukrainian rally in Marseille on the same day.
