Omdurman, the city adjacent to the Sudanese capital Khartoum, is witnessing intense clashes between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). At least two children were killed in a bombing in a residential area, the AlHadath TV said, Report informs via TASS.
According to the channel, several minors were injured. In recent days of violent clashes, many civilians have been forced to leave Omdurman.
Intense fighting between the conflicting parties also continues in Khartoum, in particular in areas adjacent to the base of the armored forces, which is located in the south of the capital. Currently, it is controlled by the army, but the RSF continues to attack the strategic object.
The situation in the country escalated in April due to disagreements between Army Commander Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and Commander of the Rapid Support Forces Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo. The main contradictions between them are related to the timing and methods of forming a unified armed forces, as well as who should become the commander-in-chief of the army: a professional military man, for which al-Burhan stands, or an elected civilian president, as Dagalo insists. On April 15, clashes began between the two structures near the military base in Merov, as well as in Khartoum.
More than 4,000 people have been killed in Sudan as a result of the outbreak of conflict, according to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.
