Trump wants NATO countries to increase defense spending to 5% of GDP — FT

US President-elect Donald Trump will require NATO member states to increase their defense spending to 5% of their GDP, Report informs via TASS.

According to the Financial Times, he conveyed this demand to a number of European officials through his representatives.

According to the newspaper’s sources, Trump may eventually agree to an increase to 3.5% from the current 2%. The sources also told the Financial Times that Trump intends to continue the military aid to Ukraine despite the statements he made during his presidential campaign.

According to one source, the NATO Summit in the Hague in July next year will discuss either a 3% figure or more.
