Tropical cyclone makes landfall on India's east

The tropical cyclone Yaas, which emerged in the Bengal Bay, has made landfall on the eastern coast of India on Wednesday morning, NDTV channel reports, citing the meteorological department of India. Report informs, citing TASS, that in the coming hours, the cyclone will cross the eastern shore of the country at the intersection of the borders of Odisha and West Bengal between the city Paradeep and the Sagar island, bringing torrential rains and wind gusts that will reach 155 km/hs in speed.

Authorities have evacuated nearly 3.5 million people from the coastline areas. The Indian coast guard has deployed vessels and aviation, brought the rescuers' groups on alert in the Bengal Bay to assist the population of the eastern coast affected by Yaas.
